Growing Microgreens

Microgreens are grown:

Mr. McGregor’s Microgreens
  • using hydroponics with Nutrient Film Technology  (NFT) and overhead misting depending on the growing day
  • so that each Microgreens crop designed for a specific harvest date is grown in a separate greenhouse which enables us to tailor the daily environment to the exact needs of the Micorgreens on that day
  • with seeds that have been pre-germinated and placed in the greenhouse on a schedule so that all Microgreens required for a harvest are started exactly on the same day even when the Microgreens have different grow times
  • with computer controlled feeding so the feeding is managed to the growing day of the Microgreens
  • in modern climate controlled greenhouses where the computer manages temperatures and air flow to provide the best possible growing climate for Microgreens
  • on rolling benches to maximize growing space while providing optimum access for Microgreens plant care
  • with fertilizer created to provide the Microgreens with the exact diet they require to make tasty salads
  • fertilizer components do not include any component that has a risk of carrying harmful agents like E. coli
  • by greenhouse workers who use personal protection equipment such as powder-free vinyl gloves to minimize contamination
  • using a written Standard Growing Procedure so the grower and greenhouse workers grow each crop of  Microgreens the same way every time so customers always get the same great tasting Microgreens

Growing Microgreens is just like any other difficult endeavor. It requires paying uncommon attention to every minute detail.  Some people think growing Microgreens is just casting some seeds and a few days later harvesting the crop. Wrong. Sometimes the results are good, however, our methods ensure every Microgreens crop meets our highest standard.
